Speculating about another world requires questioning the one that exists now. This course focuses on writing fiction to build new worlds and fill those worlds with new systems, structures, and stories. Students use speculation to activate the imagination and explore design possibilities for alternative futures. Through authoring and critique, students use writing and storytelling to conjure new speculative worlds.
