Course Description

The future is a prototype in progress. This course centers on creating as a method for future thinking. Through the act of making prototypes, students will ask bold questions about how society might live, work, and play many years, decades, or centuries into the future. Grounded in discursive design practice and futures studies, students will engage with future visions through sensory and material experiences to make possible futures tangible and debatable. As students move across disciplinary domains and forward in time, they will discuss the ethical foresight implications and entanglements that their prototypes simultaneously create and respond to.
