Course Description

Design problems and their solutions rarely fit within a single design discipline. Integrative design deconstructions the design disciplines to consider the multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and postdisciplinary possibilities of contemporary design practice. This course examines what counts as design knowledge, who is recognized as a designer, and what kinds of problems design is capable of addressing. The class considers what new forms of design might emerge when design itself becomes integrated.
